Shaggy was born Richard Burrell October 22, 1968, in Kingston, Jamaica. When he turned 18 he moved to New York. There he recorded singles that gained exposure in New York reggae dance clubs in the late 80's and 90's. In 1995, Shaggy's second album "Bombastic" won a Grammy for Best Reggae Album. In 2001 Shaggy became the first reggae artist since 1991 to top the U.S. pop charts with the single, "It Wasn't Me." For your listening and viewing pleasure here is the video to that song :).

Happy Birthday to Dizzy Gillespie
Dizzie Gillespie was born today in 1917. He would have been 93. Gillespie is known as a major figure in the history of modern jazz. He was a singer, composer, band leader, and is also recognized as one of the greatest trumpet players in the history of jazz. Gillespie has been called the "Ambassador of Jazz."
